Genus/Species: Ortholepidocoleopterus giamanii
Common Name:
Family/Subfamily:
Order: Lentilburgeroptera
Origin: Bulolo/M.P.
Location: BUC
Remarks: Little is known about this peculiar mandibulate insect group. Apparently these insects have an unique feature: the wings are attached to the prothorax and mesothorax, as reported by the first-time collectors. The only records of the Lentilburgeroptera are from Papua New Guinea, where they were just recently discovered. The only specimen collected so far is kept in the collection of the Bulolo University College. The family is also referred to as Coleolepidorthoptera by the same authors. These insects are closely associated with Lentilburgeraceae. There are no further data available on the ecology of this order.
